Michael Manikas - National Chair and NSW Representative
Michael is quantity surveyor with over 10 years experience in construction including retail, residential, commercial, industrial, health
and hospitality. He is not your average quantity surveyor in that to him it is not all dollar driven. He believes in a balance between life
cycle cost, sustainability and aesthetics, "It is not always the upfront cost that counts, it about the savings in the future".
Michael worked with quantity surveying consultancy practice while completing a Bachelor of Building. From here he moved to the world of
development working with Mirvac for 4 years, Australand for 1 year and is currently employed by Davis Langdon. Over the past 10 years he has
been involved in projects such as the Walsh Bay Redevelopment, The Horizon Apartments, Peak Apartments, Liverpool Hospital, Market City
Shopping Centre, Castle Towers Shopping Centre, Roselands Shopping Centre, Town Hall Arcade.
Michael is currently the NSW Young QS representative for the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, a committee member of Futurenet, a
committee member of the Property Council of Australia's Sustainable Development Committee for NSW as well as being the Chair of 2050
committee.

Sonia Kirby - QLD and NT Representative
My CV says environmental planner, but I prefer to be known as a 'creative visioneer'. I am inspired by thinking outside the square and
currently work in strategic planning, master planning, and designing liveable places for the future.

Rachel Peck - ACT Representative
Rachel graduated with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering with Honours from the University of Melbourne in 1997.
She is currently Principal of peckvonhartel, Architects, Planners, Interior Designers; and manager of the Canberra office.
Prior to joining peckvonhartel Rachel worked for Baulderstone Hornibrook in Melbourne, initially on site in their construction division and
later as a Development Manager. She has travelled overseas, including working with Citibank in London.
Rachel is actively involved in the Property Council of Australia, most recently in the ACT Division; she is currently Chair of the
Commercial Committee and a Member of the Planning Committee.
Rachel is also a Member of the Interim Board for the Canberra International Arboretum and Gardens and a Future Summit 2006 Leadership
Awardee.

Nigel Smith - VIC and TAS Representative
Nigel is an urban designer, having trained in architecture at the Univeristy of Western Australia. After a few years selling himself around
Perth as a consultant, Nigel now works for Lend Lease in Melbourne as Design Director for Victoria.
Nigel enjoys focusing on design, consultation and negotiating sustainable urban design outcomes while contributing new cutting edge skills
and practise to further a community's urban prospects. He is thrilled to have been a part of 2050 from the beginning in Newcastle in 2004 as
"generational change in leadership is critical to the sustainable future of our country."
Examples of his projects include work in Perth for the Gosnells Town Centre Revitalisation, Forrestdale Sustainable Land Development,
Subiaco Redevelopment Authority and Northbridge Link. Nigel says, "My sustainability soapboxes are to decrease car dependence by increasing
diversity and the mixing of uses and people which all help make for an amazing quality of life - simple really!"

Todd Paterson - WA and SA Representative
Todd has been with Ken Paterson Architects since 1998 working on a range of projects including retirement villages, aged care facilities
and shopping centres. He is KPA's Aged Care and Retirement specialist, having travelled extensively across five continents studying the
various models available. He also specialises in sustainability, completing his thesis "The Viability of Sustainability in an Urban Context".
Todd is actively involved with a range of organisations assisting in the development of some of Western Australia's various peak
professional organisations.

The 2050 committee is made up of committed young professionals from a wide range of positions in Australia's various built environment industries,
who are dedicated to achieving a sustainable Australia by 2050. These individuals voluntarily take on the responsibility of organising and
delivering state 2050 events, national conferences and highlighting current issues to the growing membership database. The committee is made up of
representatives from each state in Australia, representing a truly national approach to the goals of the network.
